- Stress: Teenage life is student life. And generally it can be stressful which can also affect your skin. When you are stressed the body cells release cortisol and it can cause oil production in skills which may grow pimples.
- Genetics: It's common that genetically you can have the pimple problem. If your parents have experienced the acne at Teenage, you also have a chance to face the pimples on your face. Genetics can control the oil production of your skin and it also decided how your skin will respond to the hormonal changes.

There are many myths in our society about the acne problem which can misleads a teenager. So you need to be aware.
Myths: Acne is caused by dirty skin.
Truth: Acne is caused by hormonal changes, poor hygiene can affect the growth but it's not the main reason behind acne. Overwash of face make the worse condition off acne.
Myths: Don't use moisturizer if you have acne.
Truth: You can use moisturizer, it make the skin hydrated which is good. It stop the skin cells to produce more oil. Use oil free or non-comedogenic moisturizer.
Myths: Popping pimples will make them go away faster.
Truth: By popping the pimples can push the harmful bacteria inside your skin. It increase inflammation.
How to Manage Acne at 16
Listen guys, it's not possible to get rid of pimples completely. But a good skin care routine can enhance your appearance and it is what you need, right?
- Skincare Routine: Use a suitable facewash twice a day to remove dirt and oil. Don't use scrubs or don't rubb the skin, it will irritate.
- Over the Counter Treatments: You can use the products which contains Salicylic acid or benzoil peroxide which can help to open the skin pores and will reduce bacteria.
- Professional Treatments: If the skin care products are not effective, then dermatologist recommend the treatments like retinoids or oral antibiotics.
Self Esteem and Acne
I personally experienced that having pimples on the face reduce our self confidence. And many time we feel less confident in our community. It's okay to be self conscious about our skin, but remember that the acne or pimples are temporary and it doesn't define who you are.
Be confident in every condition make you a successful person. A small bump on you face can't win from you. It will go away one day permanently.
